A grinding wheel is an abrasive tool used for grinding, or abrasive machining. Grinding wheels are made of abrasive grains held together by a bond. The grains on the outside of the wheel are called the periphery or face. The inside of the wheel is called the bore.
Grinding wheels are available in a variety of shapes and sizes, depending on the intended use. Common shapes include flat wheels, dish wheels, cup wheels, and ring wheels.
